"i have archived april, and i have updated the archive index."

he says to the empty room. the low hum of hvac equipment running, and the dry rush of air through the diffusers answer.

too new(er) photos have snuck up onto the site (1, 2).

a tree falls in the woods...

...

there is a man in my building who repeatedly leaves his keys in the lock, with the door resting open on the strike.

"Strike: A plate mortised into or mounted on the door jamb to accept and restrain a bolt when the door is closed. In some metal installations or with a deadlock, the strike may simply be an opening cut into the jamb" (source).

i knock, and he answers (like he was just roused from nap), thanks me, then quickly retrieves his keys and closes the door. in the elevator, he told me that there is too much chlorine in the pool. he's right.

...

my guitar and i, and also my drum, have been reacquainted. my paints even came out of the box. the lawn darts are floating, but haven't been captured in good light yet...maybe they never will be.

should i take up yoga?

i'm excited to buy camping gear. i need a few major things, so perhaps i'll wait until next paycheque...spread out the outlays (that's almost a pun...layout/spread...merp).

i hope everyone is doing well out there...amidst all the confusion.

i'm sick again.

i went shopping at mec and picked up a tent (and matching footprint/tarp), stove, fuel bottle, water purifier, water bottle, and cooking set (frypans/pots). at home, i discovered that one of the pans has a ding in it. so, i must return to mec soon, at which point i'm sure i'll drop another fortune. if i don't mention camping anytime soon, please berate me (and/or invite me out camping).

had a lazy day today. i went out and was waiting to use an atm on the street when a native american man approached me and asked for change. i checked, and told him that i had none (which was true). he stood too close to me and asked me where i came from. i told him canada. he stared at me. and i told him i was scottish/british in descent. he asked me which side i fought for. i told him that i didn't understand what he was asking me, and he repeated the question. he was intense, and there was something burning in his eyes. he got angry and made a kissing noise and gesture at the woman next to me before storming off. which side do i fight for?

i watched life is beautiful, i cried a lot.

today is a sad day. my heart is heavy. i'll be fine tomorrow though. aren't we always?

for those of you holding your breath, i'm well again. i have just spent a week and a weekend battling god-knows-what. it started on my tonsils and/or throat—whatever it was—and soon spread to those unnamed places that control headaches, fevers, delirium, lethargy, and stuffed-up-ed-ness. nonetheless, the adversary has fallen and the war is over. let us now turn our heads to the horizon, adventure out into the world again, and see what fortune has in store.

they played my audio comment on the dawn and drew show (#322); how cool is that? dawn had mentioned lawn darts a few shows back, so i called into the comment-line to let them know about my recent artistic endeavour involving lawn darts.

incidentally, i started listening to podcasts again a while ago, but now i only listen to them in the car while commuting, and i only listen to the the dawn and drew show, quirks and quarks (the science program on cbc radio), and podictionary.

friday, i partied it up at jayley's new apartment and met some new folks while imbibing jägermeister. good times. thanks jayley.

by way of introduction, jayley is a (relatively) new workmate and fast friend; we just haven't found time to get matching best-friends-forever bracelets yet. he is going to introduce me to the game of squash soon.

saturday, my friends and i adventured to bond head and enjoyed a walkabout at scanlon creek, thai food in newmarket, and a bonfire with fireworks at the homestead.

sunday i slept all day (i think i'm sick again) and then had dinner with chad and watched the weather man—meh (re the movie, not dinner with chad, which was good).

today, i watched the princess bride and slept all day...i know i'm not well, shit.

i just woke up at 9 p.m., had some tea, and might try to read for a little bit before returning to bed. hope everyone had an exciting and fun-filled weekend. also, sorry for the lack of posts lately. perhaps i'll try getting an rss feed going, so you don't have to bother checking my site all the time and you can just use an aggregator...then again, i thought i'd do that a long time ago.

almost forgot, i uninstalled counterstrike again. perhaps i'll start living now. wouldn't that be nice?

matt, out.

i am presently in bond head. this weekend i'm relaxing. i finished reading "all families are psychotic", by douglas coupland, and watched "the family stone" and "broken flowers".

i've begun rereading "the tao of pooh", and am reflecting on how i've lost my way. the time has come to uncarve this block.

today i went for a drive just to go for a drive.

right now, i've got my dad's winamp pointed to an IDM/ambient shoutcast station and have been doing absolutely nothing.

ok, i'm going to go watch the wind, indirectly, by watching the grass in the field behind the house.

peace be with you, one and all.
