happy new year!

some entertainment...watch close now:

"how is antimattr starting off MMVII?" you all ask (although probably thinking matt and not antimattr). well, i decided it was high time to back up all of my photographs, which were set up to be entirely lost if i had a hard drive failure. i don't have a dvd writer, so i've been dreading doing this for a while, since i expected to be doing it manually—huzzah for tedium!

alas, google came through for me yet again. little did i know, picasa has a backup feature that automated the entire process; all i had to do was pop in the cds and play some guitar while the laser did its business. good times. remember kids, safe data is happy data.

in unrelated news, i received a blender from my nanny for christmas and have been hitting the green smoothies pretty hard. my aunty dawn is on a raw food diet and recommended the green smoothies as a source of healthy good things (hgts) in my diet. so far, so good. i use khale and romaine for the green, and then add various fruits to make it taste yummy. berries are a godsend for making the "green" smoothies turn purple, which looks more digestion-friendly to me for some reason. peanut butter is also a wonderful addition to the team (victoria taught me this smoothie secret). anyway, i give these beverages a tentative thumbs up. i'll report back on their health effects later.

hmm...i think i'll leave off there for now, i have some reading to do. g'night.

well, my norton subscription ran out on me, and i was unable to catch up with it. accordingly, i have opted to install avg antivirus (free for personal use), and it is presently humming away with its first system scan.

to celebrate this adventure in uninstalling symantec's product, i had a green smoothie (orange juice, vanilla soy milk, spinach, carrot, pear, and berries), made an english muffin, pesto, cheese, and fried egg sandwich, and am chasing those bad boys down with a pint of guinness as i type. mmm...good luck stomach.

this weekend victoria and i moved moogan into her new apt. in peterborough, where she will be doing her master's degree—huzzah for studying lynx! don't worry, we'll visit often.

azaybio met up with us out there and showed us where to find some good breakfast grub. after some expertly-spiced home fries, the three of us left moogan to her unpacking adventures and we started out for guelph. en route, i thought that popping in to see brad would be fun and everyone else agreed with me.

we stopped off in ajax for some dq blizzard action with brad and then headed back to guelph.

this morning my brother began his journey to japan, where he and his girlfriend sarah will be teaching english and living together. i'm excited for them both and hope that they are already having fun adventures.

and now i'm going to check out some of the music that jayley and his bro made using my external sound card and my mic (stellarvibes), then i think an episode or two of arrested development before bed.

rock on.

worked late today. too late. matty is tired.

moogan saved my day though. she emailed me a link to this video (warning: mature subject matter and course language):

no word on my brother—assumed safe.

tomorrow at 6 p.m i will discover whether or not i'm a grand prize winner in the lottery put on by the canadian cancer society. i'm banking on winning. wish me luck.

and now, i'm going to backtrack a little on this quirks & quarks (q&q) podcast and relax on the couch for the remaining 20 minutes of the show before visiting sleepy-land.

g'night folks.

howdy. new album up! read on for a description.

ory at the helm: album art for 01/11/2007 savannah room adventure

at the savannah room (photo album)

actually, let's start with something random shall we?

as i type this sentence, i have been out of the womb for:

duration calculator

light has travelled 2.44616254*1017 meters during my lifetime.

...

i'm listening to cliqhop on winamp right now—it is great stuff. i've probably plugged it before, which raises an interesting question: why haven't you listened to it yet?

...

on the 11th, jayley and i went to see chad's show after work (chad laughing).

you will have noticed that i included a link to an album of photos from the adventure earlier. that was my hook...did you read on though?

anyway, everyone was great!

shouts out to all the musicians:

ubiquitous synergy seeker blew my mind open; go listen to some of his tracks. next show, i'm bringing items for him to put in the smoothie that he makes...during one of his songs(!)

truly, i'd write a lot more about the night, but i'm exhausted (it's now 12:42 a.m. on the 16th, and the time has come for me to pass r-t-f-out. g'night.

some random paragraphs for you enjoyment:

i finally finished the book wicked. i am now returning to the long abandoned third book of the baroque cycle by neal stephenson. damn, that man can write.

i'm sporting a beard, along with a narrow soul patch. my hair has grown long enough to obscure my vision on occasion.

i finally selected my emusic downloads for this round. amongst other things, i found this album called help that i remembered listening to back in the day—i think my dad got the cd from some music-by-mail service. it's good.

tonight, i had a skype conversation with my brother and his girlfriend in takatsuki japan, and my mom and dad at the homestead. oh technology.

right now i'm going to go watch a few more episodes of the oh so fantabulous arrested development. g'night.

hello.

this weekend victoria and i went and hung out with my parents in bond head. on friday night we watched fairytale: a true story. i quite enjoy the name. the movie itself is "okay".

on saturday, somewhere in between morning and afternoon, we played scrabble® and i managed to put "ahoy" on the board, huzzah!

also on saturday, i played with my dad's canon EOS D60 and took a photo of one of our dining room chairs (photo).

on saturday night, we went out with jenna and robin to celebrate robin's birthday. after the bar, we found ourselves back at jenna's enjoying some 3 a.m. icecream cake and a robin-narrated and fast-forwarded viewing of the protector.

today, victoria and i joined jayley and al and went to see rain: the beatles experience. it was good fun.

after the show, we came back to my apartment. i made dinner and we all watched back to the future. that too was good fun :)

in an exciting new development, i'm going to be doing some web design work/play with my friend ory (watch that space!). i'll post more when that comes to fruition ;)

well, i guess that brings you up to speed. see you soon, and for now, good night.
